I Thank You
By James H. Meyer - VA Hines, Illinois
I’m thankful for most everything,
For newborn days and what they bring.
Thankful for the sky above,
The stars, the sun, the moon I love.
For the air about, so fresh and free,
For a nose to smell, and eyes to see.
A heart that beats all day and night,
A conscience knowing wrong from right.
The sense of touch and ears to hear,
A mind to love and cope with fear.
With two strong legs on which to walk,
A tongue to taste with and to talk.
Am thankful for these able arms,
So I might use to ward off harms.
I’m thankful for both you and me,
For living in a country free.
I’m thankful for my kin so dear
My thanks to God that I’m still here.
