Plight of Pledges By: Lawrence W Langman (c) In the shadows of my mind, I feel the sun upon my face. Yet lost in time I feel abandoned in a wilderness of pain and pure disgrace. To see that image of reflection in a mirror in darkened halls, As my mind dost remembers of where all my memories fall. I've searched deep inside my mind, for those thoughts within my heart, Yet that button seems just out of grasp, no way to hit restart! Nightmares come alive when our eyelashes close up tight, Time seems to come in play, with pledges of our plight. Promises we gave so freely, to our wives and to our nation, we've signed those dotted lines, to sure up those deep relations. Those families our strong anchors, of which we hold on tight, in search of all the answers, we struggle for what is right! In the grey of night we move, always searching for that peace, That annoying training we endured has allowed this expertise. We strive to do our best, at home and in the field, for some of us we've knocked off more relationships, than enemies we've killed. As human beings we are different, not better than the rest, yet rose to meet our calling, and stood with some of mankind's best!! Deep inside each one of us, darkness hides within us all, We teeter upon that edge, when we walk a top that wall. Not afraid of falling, nor are we scared to tell the tale. We are more afraid of ourselves, in what would happen if we failed! Hence out biggest fear, as we stumble through this life, In or out of the military, concerned with inner strife. So somewhere in the heavens, as trumpets blare aloud, among the clouds above us, let's pray for the few, let's pray for all, the proud!!
