I’ve got your six wading thru the water gun above his head Would he make it to the shore Or would he be shot dead The soldier next to him Said the Lord’s Prayer While the soldier behind him Said over and over again that he was scared The water turned red He saw men blown in half Didn’t have time to think Barely had time to catch his breathe The shore was covered With mines and metal stakes Gun emplacements rapid fire Omaha beach d day There was absolutely no cover From the landing craft to the shore Unless you counted the metal stakes That’s what he headed for belly crawling was hard to do With his weapon so he laid it aside Had to ditch his gun If he didn’t he would die Men minus arms soldiers without their face He survived the beach landing Only by God’s grace Decimated was the word That would come to his mind His entire company was decimated By those damn German mines He survived DDAY He lived to tell Omaha beach 6 June 1944 His walk thru hell When he turned 90 He went back Wanted to touch the sand Without fear of flak he walked on the beach And then he laid down Reminisced for a moment All was silent no sound I’ll see you guys soon It won’t be too long now Until then I’ve got your six Thou your lives was cut short I know you were heaven bound ………..
