As American soldiers landed on the shore,
There was no time to shed tears.

Holding their position with all their might,
Combat-hardened soldiers were ready to fight.
Some came home; most died,
Holding feelings always deep inside.
After combat, realizing life is precious and dear,

Reload before you’re shot;
Try not to look as soldiers are left to rot.
As your ears ring and blood makes you grow,
You pray to God you might live to grow old.
