OUR FOREFATHERS FOUGHT SIDE BY SIDE THAT FOURTH OF JULY Years ago a very young man kissed his wife good - bye, she stood in the doorway, trying not to cry. That young man made it home and for that I am glad, for that young man became my caring and loving Dad !!! He fought for the freedom we all enjoy today, I am greatful that he answered the call, By serving this new country, freedom is now expericed by all ! it means no more…game over…we won. We can not foresee every twist and turn when it comes to war, the American Flag with its stars and stripes of Old Glory. Oh how our forefathers fought side by side , so many suffered and so many died. They all fought for freedom under this flag, they fought hard and took a firm stand, So they could have independence and freedom in this new land, So much blood was bled, but they never gave up and came out ahead. On that hot summer’s day that July, a knock at the door announced death had come to call. She stood there with two babies in her arms, in the flash of an eye the sun went away. The clouds rolled in wild and gray, the heavens opened with tears of their own. The angels welcomed his soul to it’s new home, what is our flag but a symbol, a piece of cloth. A whim of some long forgotten someone waging a battle grim and giving every thing they got protecting it. Today with all of its summer fun, we tend to forget who are the ones who gave us our independence and freedom, Many men had sacrificed, fought, bled and died, so many tears loved ones cried. In front of the huge white church across the county road is a very old cemetery, where peace and quiet reigned for souls that weary. Tombstones stood tall and short on that blessed land, townspeople and families alike group together with flags in their hands They honor their fellow men who passed so they could live in freedom today, as country folks do on this 4th of July the day of our independence ! The very next time our flag is in sight, it matters not weather day or night, Just be thankful that our banner does wave over the land of the free and the home of the brave !!! Flying high from the tallest pole dancing in the breeze, The RED, WHITE and BLUE always makes a stand out scene.
