Dwell in Hope

By Ben Hawkins, Army

Writing Type: Poem

Hope is a desire or expectation for something to happen.

Hope is everything; it keeps us alive with poverty in check,

with gambling on life and fame and fortune possible.

Today the abode of the dead is vacant;

all the devils are here offering no hope.

With all the devils here

and hope against hope pervading,

hoping can be difficult.

But hope always offers hope.

Dwell in hope.

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick:

but when the desire cometh,

it is a tree of life.
