Waves of Life

By Michele Johnson, Army

Writing Type: Poem

By Michele Roxanne Johnson

VA Medical Center—Albany, NY

Every day awakening to the realization

that I am in the beginning of a new dawn.

A place where the pain, anger and frustration

ride the waves out to sea.

A place where the wave comes crashing to shore,

washing away the negative flow of my past life.

In its place it leaves healing that ebbs and flows freely.
