FIGHTING' FOR FREEDOM

By David Harrington, Army

Writing Type: Poem

Foxhole trenches, periscopes, rifle sights
Mustard gas, bomb craters, arms and legs
Ripped up charcoal hunks, blood and guts
Happens whenever the dragon struts.
Fighting' for freedom, fighting' for peace
Fighting' for freedom, fighting' for peace.
Save gas, shower with a Jew
Screan1ing flaming burning, too
Stench black morning dew
Piles of dead, white and blue.
Fighting' for freedom, fighting' for peace
Fighting' for freedom, fighting' for peace.
Hueys, Cobras, Apaches, Phalanx,
Smack, weed, bungee sticks, pits and snares.
Vulcans, Big Berthas, napalm, stinger pods,
Prisoners wired to lightning rods.
Fighting' for freedom, fighting' for peace
Fighting' for freedom, fighting' for peace.
