NIGHT LIGHT

By Jerry Andrews, Army

Writing Type: Poem

Sometimes, in the middle
Of the night, in the middle
Of my pain, of my tossing and
Turning.
In the middle of old, once-buried
Memories, I awake and
Grab a beer, tune the little radio
In to the golden oldies, and I
Try to write. In the middle of
The night, I search myself for
Some insight, for some way
To put some wrong things right
Or even just to beam some
Little light upon a question, a
Problem I ponder in the night.
In the deep dark middle
Of the night.
